Licensing

Simple, offline licensing

One line of text per license. Checked locally, so it works on air-gapped sites and never phones home.

How it works

1

Evaluate

Report Designer and Label Designer evaluation builds include a license. Everything works; output is visibly marked as evaluation.

2

License

You receive a signed key for the products you buy, valid through its expiry date.

3

Install

Set LICENSE_KEY or LICENSE_FILE and restart. The Status page and /v1/info show the license and days left.

Per product

ProductLicensed partsEvaluation outputWithout a valid paid key
Report DesignerThe render service, per installation; the designer needs no licenseEvery PDF page marked TRIAL VERSIONPDFs still render, with a watermark; nothing is blocked
Label DesignerViewer (render) and Editor (merge, template designer), separatelyLabel images marked TRIAL; merged ZPL for printers is never markedNo key: the bundled evaluation license applies. An expired or invalid key: render and merge answer HTTP 402 until it is replaced
CartonizationThe packing service, per installation; the display components need no license of their ownResults marked TRIAL in the display componentsNo key: the bundled evaluation license applies. An expired or invalid key: the pack, multi-level and capacity endpoints answer HTTP 402 until it is replaced; the playground, docs and component files keep working
SlottingThe put-wall service, per installation: every change through its API (layouts, waves, scans, imports); the components need no license of their ownAPI responses marked as trial, and a TRIAL mark in the componentsNo key: the bundled evaluation license applies. An expired or invalid key: changes through the API answer HTTP 402 until it is replaced; reading, the admin page, docs and component files keep working
Print DaemonPrinting (the queue consumers, test prints and dead-letter re-sends), per installation; the admin UI, status and docs keep working without onePrinted output is never marked; the admin UI and Status page show TRIALPrinting pauses: jobs wait in your queue, none lost or dead-lettered, and print once a valid key is installed. Early access: terms are agreed per pilot. Ask about Print Daemon licensing

Questions vendors ask

Does the software contact a license server?

No. Keys are signed and checked locally against a public key in the product. Nothing is sent anywhere, so it works without internet access.

Is a key tied to a machine?

No. The number of installations is part of the agreement; each install shows its instance id on its Status page so you can keep track.

What happens when a license expires?

Keys are valid through the end of their expiry day (UTC). From the next day, Label Designer blocks render and merge, Cartonization blocks packing, Slotting blocks changes through its API (scans, waves, layouts), Print Daemon pauses printing (jobs wait in the queue), and Report Designer watermarks its PDFs. Watch daysLeft in /v1/info and renew in time.

Can we include it in our on-premises edition?

The products are built to run on your customers' premises. Tell us how you ship (SaaS, on premises or both) and roughly how many installations you expect, and we'll discuss terms.

Do pages or the status endpoint ever stop working?

No. The developer portal, the Status page, the SDK files and the health endpoints keep working whatever the license state, so you can always diagnose an install.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the products, the number of installations and whether you run it as SaaS or ship it on premises. Ask for a quote.
